Having recently hired our new Environment and Sustainability Manager, we are now on the hunt for an enthusiastic Environment Graduate looking for their first role out of university.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to start their career within the Environmental Space, reporting directly into the Head of Health, Safety, Environment and Wellbeing, you will hit the ground running and learn all there is to know about Arriva Rail London's environmental plans.

Within this role, you will be tasked with supporting the maintenance of Arriva Rail London's (ARL's) environment and energy management systems, establishing high standards of environmental performance across the network.

You will also assist the Environment and Sustainability Manager in the day to day management of environmental issues across the network, ensuring that we are delivering environmental Committed Obligations and complying with the environmental requirements laid out by the business, whilst also developing the Annual Environment Report & Improvement Plan.

As the Environmental Management Graduate, you will also work on influencing change and driving environmental improvements across the business, in all aspects of environmental issues including waste, water, energy and biodiversity/ air quality.

Conducting environmental site inspections across the London Overground network, ensuring legal compliance as well as internal compliance, to mitigate risks and assess opportunities for employment.

You will also participate in Arriva UK Train Environment Improvement Networks and wider railway environmental meetings as required.
For this role you will need to have experience or an understanding of:

  • Air quality and biodiversity principles
  • Environmental Management Systems in a business setting
  • Environmental data processes
  • Water/ waste legislation and management practices
  • Environmental best practice and principles
  • Knowledge of the ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 Standards

You will also need to have strong communication skills, ideally experience communicating with a large audience.

Someone who has a methodical approach, with attention to detail as well as the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Must be either an Environmental Graduate or Associate Member of IEMA.
