The College wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Assistant to support the work of Dr. Barney Dunn. This National Institute for Health Research funded post is available from 1st September 2023 for 12 months and will be based at the Mood Disorders Centre on the Streatham Campus at the University of Exeter. It may be possible to extend the post or change the FTE on the post in the future.
The successful applicant will play a key role in the day-to day running of the Mental Health Mission Project, which aims to support functioning of a mood disorders clinic that can facilitate clinical trials of novel (predominantly psychology) treatments. The main tasks will involve helping develop clinical infrastructure to run mood disorder trials, liaising with NHS partners, recruiting, screening and assessing participants (using quantitative and qualitative methods), data entry, data analysis, and ensuring high levels of retention over the course of projects.
About you
Applicants will possess a relevant good undergraduate and/or masters degree in psychology or a related discipline, have experience of working with clients with poor mental health in a clinical or research capacity, knowledge of psychological therapy settings and mood disorder treatments, evidence of excellent organisational skills, experience of maintaining databases and analysing data, written and verbal communication skills and have strong interest in clinical research for mood disorders. Applicants will be able to use initiative and creativity to help develop research objectives and proposals, support the research group to gain research funding and ensure high levels of participant retention over the course of clinical trials.
